Hello there,
When I first took the Strength Test and discovered my top 5 were Harmony, Responsibility, Developer, Connectedness and Maximizer (in that order) my first thought was, "That can't be me!" After closer personal examination and coaching, I realized I have been living in the basement of my #1 Harmony. Strengths and weaknesses question
I was instantly excited from the first time I read the strengths books and how relevant they are. I was a bit surprised earlier today to be offered a kit for training people about overcoming weaknesses. It seemed to be inconsistent. As Markus had said and as Peter Drucker highlighted, work on building strengths and hiring people based on strengths. All of a sudden a conflicting point of view.

How to have a tough conversation: 5 rules to follow
One of the biggest communication challenges I see managers deal with is how to have a tough conversation with someone. This goes along with earlier articles I’ve written about dealing with difficult issues as they come up — sooner rather than later. Strategic Thinking
A leadership team on which I serve was assigned an article on strategic thinking. Within the article, it was claimed that "organizations must have resources from which to operate, and these resources must be valuable, rare, inimitable, sustainable and appropriable." Working in the volunteer, non-profit sector, I have no trouble identifying valuable, sustainable and appropriable resources, but I really struggle to articulate what is rare and/or inimitable about our organization in comparison…

September 26, 2011 I was officially hired at Evergreen Employment Services as an Employment Development Specialist at Frontier Behavioral Health (presently operating as Spokane Mental Health). What a mouthful! Anyway it is a 6 month grant in supported employment for those who would like to consider employment as part of their recovery plan. THAT is why I haven't posted in such a long time! (Not to mention that I am presently enrolled at the University of Maryland - online - in a one year…

As a manager, I have interviewed dozens of people for jobs from entry level to high level management. Believe me, first impressions are critical. Over the years, I have been distracted by pink tights, blank stares, and people who talk too much.
