Strengths Campus

fostering a community of people interested in exploring strengths

I highly recommend this book.

In "Now, Discover Your Strengths," Marcus and Don do a fantastic job of explaining our brain development and how our firing synapses create T1 lines; leading to our talent themes.  Coyle goes a bit further, with the help of scientific discovery, by breaking down how talent is developed in our brains through the use of Myelin.

He describes Myelin as an insulator, capable of creating T3 lines.  He explains that through the continued firing of synapses, "Mylein quitely transforms narrow alleys into broad, lightning-fast super-highways.  Neural traffic that once trundled along at two miles an hour can, with myelin's help, accelerate to two hundered miles an hour."

"What's more, myelin has the capacity to regulate velocity, speeding or occasionally even slowing signals so they hit synapses at the optimal time."

He cites examples of talent hot beds and discovers that only through "deep practice," can one become a master.  The good news though is that, as Croyle says, "Myelin doesn't care who you are, only what you do."

Read and share.  Live and work Strong.
